A 20% reduction in wrinkles, scientifically demonstrated in 28 days of application

In a clinical study of 27 women between the ages of 45 and 70, who applied L’ÉTOILE COSMÉTIQUES cream twice a day to one half of their face and a placebo cream to the other half, it was shown that L’ÉTOILE COSMÉTIQUES cream reduced the depth and width of wrinkles by 18% and 21% respectively.

These results were measured by biometrics on 3D modeling, comparing images taken before and after 28 days of application using the specialized DermaTOP®.

A study carried out on skin explants maintained in culture aimed at evaluating the capacity of Juventide®, in comparison with a commercial retinol cream, to increase skin hydration. It was demonstrated that Juventide® induces a positive effect superior to retinol, as regards the synthesis of GAGs of the dermal-epidermal junction and of the dermis; GAGs being responsible for the hydration of cutaneous tissues.

The illustration opposite details the results of this study. The presence of glycosaminoglycans was rated on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 means a slight presence of GAGs and 5 means a very high presence. Following the application of both treatments over a period of 6 days, Juventide® generated a score of 4, meaning a high presence of GAGs, while the application of retinol scored 3 and the untreated explant maintained a score of 1. These results demonstrate the superior ability of the coelomic fluid to increase skin hydration, promoting better skin stability and firmness.

Increases the synthesis of collagen types III and IV

A study carried out on skin explants maintained in culture aimed at evaluating the capacity of Juventide®, in comparison with a commercial retinol cream, to increase the synthesis of type III and IV collagen. It was demonstrated that Juventide® had a positive effect superior to retinol. Type III collagen, produced by young fibroblasts and present in the dermis, forms a structural network that ensures skin firmness. Type IV collagen, synthesized in the basal membrane of the epidermis, plays a role in the mechanical stability of the skin.

The presence of type III collagen was scored on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 means a slight presence of collagen and 5 means a very high presence. Following the application of these two treatments over a period of 5 days, Juventide® generated a score of 5, i.e. a very high presence of type III collagen, while the application of retinol obtained a score of 3 and the untreated explant maintained a score of 2.

In image B opposite, the presence of type IV collagen was scored on a scale of 1 to 4, where 1 means moderate collagen presence and 4 means very high presence. Following the application of the treatments over a period of 6 days, Juventide® generated a score of 4, meaning a very high presence of type IV collagen, while the application of retinol obtained a score of 2 and the untreated explant maintained a score of 1. These results demonstrate the very positive effects of the coelomic fluid on collagen synthesis and, consequently, in restoring structure and better mechanical stability to the skin.

In an aging model on skin explants, Juventide® demonstrated very positive effects on type III and type IV collagen synthesis.

After only one week of application:

  • 2.5X increase in type III collagen synthesis (peach-yellow coloration) in the papillary dermis
  • Increase of type IV collagen synthesis by 3X (green coloration) in the EDD, papillary dermis and around the skin appendages
  • Superior effect to retinol, without the side effects

Regenerates the epidermis

In a comparative study on living skin explants, to which a Juventide® treatment was applied on the one hand and a commercial retinol cream on the other, Juventide® had positive effects on epidermal regeneration by increasing its thickness by 2.5 times, without causing any harmful effects on the skin cells. In comparison, the retinol treatment generated only about a 1.5-fold increase in epidermal thickness, but also caused irritation and various signs of toxicity on the exposed cells.

In the image to the right, the skin explants appear and react as if they were younger and healthier. There is also a strengthening of the collagen network in the dermis by an increase in fiber density providing maximum skin support.

Stimulates wound healing

In an in vitro healing test, an application of pure starfish coelomic fluid promoted epidermal regeneration by doubling the rate of keratinocyte recolonization in just 24 hours.

In the images opposite, we can see in image D, that the addition of Juventide® to the damaged keratinocytes in image A, stimulated the recolonization of keratinocytes up to 96.4% after only 24 hours. Our keratinocytes use a similar process for our own healing. Interestingly, the addition of Juventide® stimulates recolonization of the wounded area to a greater extent than the growth factor TGF-β in image C, a bioactive molecule produced by our own body and known to facilitate and promote wound healing.
